I’m confused!

You shouldn’t be. All we did was rebrand our web services under the new umbrella that is Web Boutique. We changed our focus and drive, but you still get the same great service that you previously got with Duplico Media.

One of the changes is the introduction of a large cover image at the top of your page. You can set this to any image you want.

The cover image sizes are:
Width: 850px
Height: 315px

This morning Facebook launch the timeline for places & pages. So what does this mean?

The Good

Pages now have a big chunk of screen real estate at the top of their page in the form of the cover image. Brady Dyer Photography, our first client to make the switch (it’s optional till 31 March) has used this space to showcase the latest portfolio from his website.

There is now a new admin panel which seems to be a great place to view all the interactions with users of your facebook. At first glance this is a great improvement over the previous design.

Asides from these two, the timeline view seems to have all the other goodies that personal pages do.

The Bad!

The biggest drive to Facebook pages has always been tabs, A place where you can interact with your users (even if they haven’t liked their page). This seems to have been deleted entirely, and there is now no way to specify a landing tab! Hopefully this will be changed over time, but we see this as a very big step backwards. We build entire marketing plans around facebook pages, and the tabs and facility to choose a landing tab is a VERY big part of that.

Long profile images were a great way to get a message across, while these have been ditched is slightly bad, now having the large cover image space at the top of the page more than makes up for it – but is still worth mentioning that gone are the days of nifty long profile images.

Instead of having a long link such as https://www.facebook.com/pages/Web-Boutique/143301752404840 you can tidy this up to something like http://www.facebook.com/WebBoutique (add us as a friend while you’re there!)

The only things you need to know about securing your domain is that you must have at least 25 fans before you can choose a username and once you have chosen one you cannot change your mind (to be careful what you choose).

To claim your page’s username now visit www.facebook.com/usernames

Armed with this I boarded the flight in Wellington with the sole goal to finish this website before touching done in Australia 3 hours later. It’s amazing how much can be done when you’re unplugged from the internet, free from distractions. Needless to say the website was more than complete by the time I touched done, I quickly connected to Vodafone’s network (tethered from my iPhone) and uploaded the website files to our servers hosted in New Zealand.

The Herne Bay (HBAZ) and Eden Park (EPAZ) stations are 1.5km and 2km from Western Springs, respectively, and recorded a strong low frequency signal during the Foo Fighters concert.

There were highs and lows through-out the night, most likely showing the absolute crowd pleasers, and those that only the die-hard loyal fans knew.
